Introduction
Sometimes you may want to audit your stock within our business or want stock returned to you that we have not been able to sell. We have processes in place for both instances which enables you to get either an accurate count or get your hands on stock held in our warehouse.
Stock Take
Next Distribution Ltd., in accordance with our external financial auditors (PWC) performs an annual stock take of our Online forward locations every January. This enables us to meet our financial obligations as a FTSE 100 company for our end of year accounts.
The results of the stocktake will therefore be applied subsequently, and will be reflected in the closing balance of the Weekly Stock Report available on your Globalscape feed from the 1st February. Please head to our Reporting Overview for more information on the Weekly Stock Report.
What Stock Can We Access for Returns?
- Stock held by our Processing team I.E not yet been labelled with our UID label.
- Stock held in QC team post receipt (e.g Faulty , rejected stock)
- Retail Highbay and forwards locations including Clearance stock.
- Online Highbay / forwards locations - stock is still at full carton level.
- Stock awaiting return to manufacturer. (RTB)
- Loose processing locations e.g ISPS
Where we cannot pick from (because of time delays, labour and extra cost) are:

Stock will be picked from all accessible locations and collated in cartons which may be mixed. Stock will also still have the Next UID label attached.
How Does Stock Returns Work?
Please can you let kerry_chadwick@next.co.uk know who manages this within your business so any communication goes to the correct place.
Step 1 - Our Merchandiser teams will agree this in advance with you and email you the items and quantities of your products we advise are for surplus. Please see below an example of a surplus report.
Step 2 - Once agreed, we will pick the stock and have it ready for you to collect, we will email you with the following information:
- The Number Of Cartons
- Quantity of stock
- Contact details
- Address for collection
Step 3 - We will notify you when the stock is ready for collection via email. You can then book into our Distribution Centre to arrange a time to collect. As our warehousing space is limited, we need you to collect the stock from kerry_chadwick@next.co.uk within 14 days. We can store the stock for you should you need more time but please note that this will incur a cost of £35 per day which you will be debited for.
